SSC JE Recruitment 2026: Selection Process

The SSC JE selection process is based primarily on performance in Paper-I and Paper-II, followed by final allocation according to merit and post preferences.

Paper-I is a qualifying examination. SSC will use the normalized marks obtained in Paper-I to shortlist candidates for Paper-II on a category-wise basis. Separate merit lists are prepared for the relevant post groups.

Candidates shortlisted through Paper-I appear for Paper-II. Unlike Paper-I, the normalized marks of Paper-II are used for determining final merit.

Final selection and allocation of the post, organization and office are made on the basis of:

Paper-II performance + Post/Organization preference + Eligibility conditions

SSC will prepare separate select lists for JE Civil, JE Electrical & Mechanical, JE Telecom and Scientific Assistant in IMD.

Candidates therefore need to be very careful while submitting their post preferences. Once the allocation is made, SSC will not change the post merely because a candidate fails to satisfy a particular post's physical, medical, educational or other specific requirement.
